Abortion Rights Campaign Limited (company registration number 573445) is a pro-choice lobby group and campaigns for a referendum to repeal the 8th Amendment to the Constitution. It stated goal is abortion on demand fro the full none months of pregnancy.

The Abortion Rights Campaign despite engaging in political campaigning has received funds of $24,999 from the US based Soros/Open Society Foundation as part of Soros/Open Society Foundation plan to repeal the 8th Amendment. As with the Soros/Open Society Foundation donations to Amnesty International Ireland and the IFPA these funds were revealed by DC Leaks and not by the organisation itself. It is not clear what other funds the Abortion Rights Campaign receives from abroad.

It was reported that the organisation had to return the grant of $24,999 to the Open Societies Foundation after being forced to do so by the Standards in Public Office Commission (SIPO).

The Abortion Rights Campaign received the grant in January 2016 after submitting an application to fund a campaign towards the “strategic goal of garnering support for repeal of the Eighth Amendment of the Irish Constitution”.

A Freedom of Information Act request revealed that the Standards in Public Office Commission requested documentation regarding the Abortion Rights Campaign’s grant application to Open Society Foundations. At this stage the Abortion Rights Campaign became uncooperative and only complied with this request after SIPO informed them that if this did not happen they would refer the matter to An Garda Síochána.

After examining these documents the Standards in Public Office Commission advised the Abortion Rights Campaign that as they had sought overseas funding for a campaign with a domestic political purpose, they were in breach of the law and under threat of a Garda investigation they returned  the money to Open Society Foundations.
